Dell N3024: confirm model and port layout

Dell's N20xx/N30xx Getting Started Guide specifies 24 Gigabit Ethernet RJ-45 ports and two SFP+ 10G ports for the N3024/N3024P models. Dell-qualified SFP+ transceivers are sold separately.

For a listing advertised as “PDJ93,” request photographs of the Dell label and front/rear panels, plus the service tag and console-reported model. Match the quoted unit to the N3024 documentation before purchase.

What to match to your network

Ask your network engineer to approve a requirement sheet covering:

• Required copper and optical links, cable types and intended link speeds.
• Exact transceiver part numbers and the applicable Dell support documentation.
• Installed firmware and the features required by your configuration.
• Power-supply count and identity, fans, rack hardware and included cables.
• Any planned stacking arrangement, with a documented hardware/firmware compatibility review.

Obtain a line-item manifest for the offered switch. Ask the seller to identify which ports and functions were tested and what equipment was used.

Acceptance test before deployment

Agree on a test plan for the intended configuration rather than relying on “powers on.”

1. Verify identity and access. Capture model, service tag, firmware and hardware inventory; confirm authorized management access and the agreed configuration-reset state.
2. Inspect hardware. Record connector condition, fan status, power-supply status and diagnostic alarms.
3. Test required ports. Demonstrate link negotiation and traffic forwarding on every port included in the acceptance scope using the intended media.
4. Review errors. Record baseline and post-test counters under an agreed traffic load and duration.
5. Check configuration. Demonstrate the VLAN, aggregation, routing or other functions your engineer has included in the purchase requirement.

Set pass/fail limits and handling of defective ports in writing. Do not accept an arbitrary failed-port allowance or assume that age alone establishes condition.

Quote scope and availability

Request a dated quotation for the identified unit, with accessories, inspection results, warranty, return rights, packing and freight itemized. Confirm available quantity and dispatch terms.
